Emergency Preparedness and Response

ACHI’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate support to communities during public health emergencies.

ACHI follows a structured and participatory approach to developing an emergency preparedness plan, addressing mental health challenges and enhancing community resilience principles in the face of natural disasters.

In collaboration with state and county agencies, the program develops and distributes up-to-date emergency preparedness and response plans, conducts training, and provides critical public health information at the county level. Key focus areas include:

  • How to prepare for emergencies (Community preparedness plans)

  • What actions to take during a crisis (Disaster and crisis intervention plans)

  • How to recover and rebuild after an emergency (Relief and resilience plans)

The program’s primary goal is to ensure that all communities, mainly immigrants, refugees, underserved, and underrepresented communities, have equitable access to the resources and information they need to respond effectively during emergencies.
